Samsung recently gave a glimpse of its upcoming Samsung Galaxy Fold phone. Now to give Samsung a run for its money, Huawei showcased its own foldable phone Huawei Mate X, and this let me quote ‘best foldable phone’ till now.
Huawei Mate X
Huawei has put in some serious effort in this; the phone will be coming 5G ready out of the box. Now Samsung still has said their phone will have 5G capabilities. Even if it does Huawei is the first to announce this.
But not only in specs, but the Mate X also has a unique design. What Samsung has done is they implemented the foldable screen in the inside part of the phone, so you have to open the phone, and then you can enjoy the big screen. But instead, this Huawei opted to install the screen onto the outer part of the phone, so when you open the phone, then the outer part will be a tablet.
Huawei’s display serves in three-way depending on which position you use it. First, when it is closed, you get two screens; one is the front and second in the rear that you can use to click selfies. The third is when you open the hinge, you get a tablet in an almost square form that houses the phone’s primary triple camera setup.
The advantage with Mate X is that due to screen folding on outside is that there will be no gap between hinge when you fold the phone. While in Samsung Fold, the screen folds inside; there is a small gap left after you close the hinge. This is done to protect the screen from creasing so that this beautiful display remains intact.
The specs that we know right now are as follows. Mate X will come with the 8-inch wraparound OLED display. The phone after folding is only 11mm in thickness, which is a great achievement. The phone comes with two in-built batteries giving 4,500 mAh power.
Huawei’s in-house processor, Kirin 980, will be running the whole phone. The phone will be coming with 8 GB RAM and 512 GB of onboard storage. Mate X is costlier compared to Galaxy Fold with a price of $2,600 (approx. Rs 1,85,000).
Samsung Galaxy Fold
Samsung Galaxy Fold will be coming with a 6.3-inch Infinity AMOLED display with a new 4.3-inch display on the outside. The phone comes with a 4,380 mAh battery capable of quick-charge and also wireless charging.
Running everything will be Snapdragon 855, which will be 5G ready. The phone will come in 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Galaxy Fold will be coming with a price tag of $1,980 (approx. Rs 1,40,000).
Looking at specifications, features, and pricing, I would say that Mate X is the better choice and an overall more complete foldable phone. But Samsung has also done some pretty solid work on Galaxy Fold so this too early to declare a winner.
Comment what do you think which phone can be said a winner, Huawei Mate X or Samsung Galaxy Fold?
