It has been a tradition from Apple to launch a news iPad every 500 Days, and just now, the 500 days have almost come to an end since the launch of the iPad Mini.

So Apple has launched a new iPad Pro with new support for trackpad and a remarkable keyboard case that elevates the iPad in air. Talking about Air, I forgot to mention that the company has also unveiled a newer MacBook Air with the new ‘scissor keyboard’. Let’s see one by one what both these new Apple devices brings,

Apple iPad Pro 2020

The iPad Pro is available in two variants one with 11-inch and another with 12.9-inch. The company has introduced a new processor that Apple calls ‘A12Z Bionic Chip’. The headline feature that Apple has introduced is the LIDAR scanner, along with its dual-camera layout. The scanner is there is for AR and depth sensing.

But what draws the most attention is the new keyboard that comes with trackpad support. Apple is calling it a ‘Magic keyboard,’ and it has a backlight to get you through some dark nights. The keyboard comes with USB-C charging support.

A new addition is a trackpad below the keyboard switches. As Apple mentioned that the new trackpad is not something that you see in the existing MacBooks out there, it comes with new gestures tailored specially for the iPad OS. The keyboard also has a ‘smooth angle adjustment’ feature, something you may have seen in the Microsoft studio, and it makes the iPad seem like floating in Air.

The new processor A12Z Bionic Chip comes with 8 cores in the GPU, and Apple claims that it is more powerful than the most windows PC out there. The processor is power efficient and offers an estimated battery life of 10 hours on 4G. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with 5G support.

The camera layout at the back seems similar to the iPhone 11 Pro, but actually, there are only two cameras, and the third one is a LIDAR sensor. There is a regular wide-angle camera, and the other is an ultrawide sensor.

iPad will be available for shipping from March 25 with 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options, and the magic keyboard costs $349 for 12.9 -inch and $299 for 11-inch. A fully equipped iPad Pro, along with the magic keyboard, can cost you a whopping $1,998. Colors available are Gray and Silver.

Macbook Air 2020

The new MacBook Air comes with an improved scissor-style keyboard that we saw first in the 16-inch MacBook. Not only better keyboard, but there is also a faster Intel 10th-gen Ice Lake Core i7 processor that has a clock speed of upto 1.2Ghz. Apple claims that the new processor can deliver upto 80 percent improved graphics performance.

The Air is available in core i5 also with 3.5 GHz of clock speed. As we know, the MacBooks are not designed for gaming, but it certainly is more powerful to handle some less heavy
graphics-intensive tasks like photo and video editing

The Macbook Air now starts with 256GB of storage and goes till 2TB if you require it. The new Macbook Air has Intel Iris Plus graphics and comes with 8GB and 16GB RAM options.

If you, by chance, pick a MacBook Air with 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage, you will be getting the same performance that you get with a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, which has precisely the same specs (and also more cameras).

The base price for the 2020 MacBook Air starts at $999, and if you have an ‘edu’ email, then you can get it at just $899. With the change in the keyboard, the Macbook Air has definitely become everybody’s go-to Mac if you disliked the previous MacBook due to the keyboard.

The screen comes with a 16:10 display ratio, with retina display that we see in all the other MacBooks out there. It has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, which is better than HD but not as good as 4K (3840 x 2160). It does miss out on the OLED display, but the True Tone feature must make up for that.

What may lack is the presence of Wifi 6 and more ports. The Air comes with two USB-C ports and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Now what happens is one of the ports will be used for charging the laptop and so you will be left with one USB port. So you will need to buy some adapter for your new MacBook Air.

All considered the new MacBook Air seems the best option. If you want to get a MacBook and also if you are not a very heavy user. It certainly is less priced than it’s predecessor and comes with a lot better keyboard.
