Lava has been working on a “Made in India” smartphone called Lava BeU that will be a budget smartphone, and the company has sent out invitations for the launch event on January 7. Along with this phone, the company is planning to launch four other smartphones in January, as confirmed by Gadgets360
Now, as with all the events that happened in 2020, this event will also be stream online on January 7 at 12 p.m. you can watch the event through the company’s Facebook and YouTube handles.
The company has been talking about Lava BeU for a week now, and they have mentioned that it is designed with women buyers in mind. The tagline involves “evolved and dynamic engineering” and focuses on fact that the smartphone is specifically “Made in India” only.
There are four other phones with Lava Beu, but the name for the rest of the smartphones is still unknown.
What are the specifications?
The smartphone was first announced on December 23, 2020. It will feature a 6.08 inch HD plus panel with 720 x 1050 pixel resolution and a 19:5:9 aspect ratio. The device is budget-oriented, so the processor is yet unknown, but I can say that it will mostly be a MediaTek processor.
The smartphone consists of 2GB ddr4 RAM and 32GB internal storage with an option of micro SD card slot to increase your memory up to 256 GB. what all the smartphones in the budget category have in common now is a bigger battery, so Lava Beu will also have a 4060 mAh battery. The price is set at Rs 6,888 for the 2GB/32GB variant.
Whether the battery will be having any fast charging or not is unknown, but it is confirmed that the phone will be running Android 10 Go edition out of the box.
Now let’s talk about the camera setup; the smartphone consists of a 13MP dual camera setup with a 2MP secondary camera. If you want selfies, it has an 8MP camera on the front with a waterdrop style notch.
You probably won’t get an in-display fingerprint scanner at this price. But there is a physical fingerprint scanner at the back. For the rest of the specification, it includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, a micro USB port for charging, and of course, a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The phone measures 9.8 mm in thickness and weighs about 175.8 grams.
Alongside the smartphone, Lava is also planning to launch a fitness band. Furthermore, the company has confirmed that the new smartphones will be priced between Rs. 5,000 and 15,000 and can be bought through online and offline channels.
What does this mean?
Obviously, Lava is not the first company to introduce “Made in India” smartphones, Xiaomi has done this. But it is indeed the first company to introduce smartphones centered on women buyers.
What this means is unknown currently; we will once the smartphone is launched. From the design, only the color says that it is mostly for women because it is kind of pink, but I think there will be more color variants.
But the phone is focused on female buyers then also it should have at least some kind of better specs. Because in the current technological scenario, 2GB RAM and 32GB storage are certainly not sufficient for everyday use.
Instead, the company could have needed something similar to the Samsung Galaxy M series or the A series. But this is what we have, and it is a budget choice. The phone will be a good choice for those looking to buy a secondary phone that is “Made in India.”
