Two new Apple iPads were unveiled in their recent launch event. iPad Mini and iPad Air are the two new models and the latest addition to Apple’s tablet family.

The tablet division in Apple just got complicated. If we count, then there are a total of five different iPads sold by Apple. Let’s check out the specification of both of these devices.

   Apple iPad display

  1. iPad Mini comes with 7.9-inch Laminated True Tone Retina IPS display.
  2. iPad Air comes with the same 10-inch Laminated True Tone Retina IPS Display.
  3. iPad Mini comes with 326 PPI, which is highest for any iPad till now.
  4. iPad Air comes with 264 PPI same as the iPad Pro.

Apple iPad performance

  1. Both iPad Mini and iPad Air come with A12 Bionic chip, which comes with a Neural engine that gives excellent performance results. 
  2. Augmented Reality (AR) is also one of the things that this chipset offers. 

Apple iPad camera

  1. Both the iPads come with an 8-megapixel camera in the back with f/2.4 aperture.
  2. The features like Portrait mode, HDR mode, Panorama are all present. The front camera comes with the 7-megapixel sensor, but unlike iPad Pro, the features like Portrait mode and Animoji are absent from both these iPads. 
  3. Sadly, none of the two models support 4K video recording, but they do support slow-motion video recording.

Availability and Price

  1. Both the devices come with RAM of 2GB and storage options of 64GB and 256GB.
  2. Also, there are two variants WiFi and WiFi + Cellular. 

Both these iPads are compatible with 1st generation Apple pencil but not with the latest 2nd gen pencil, which is a bit strange. From both these models, only iPad Air is compatible with the Apple Smart Keyboard. But the Bluetooth keyboard will support the new iPads, so you don’t have to worry about it.

Now, as per pricing, the Apple iPad Mini is the cheaper one and starts at Rs 34,990 for the WiFi model and Rs 45,900 for the WiFi + Cellular model. The price of iPad Air starts at Rs 44,900 for the WiFi model and Rs 55,900 for the WiFi + Cellular model.

The new iPads are up for pre-orders in a few countries. They will soon be available in India through online and Apple’s retail stores.
